Charities and Not-for-Profit Organisations

Charities and not-for-profit organisations form a significant part of our audit and accounts department portfolio. We currently act as auditors to 24 charities.

We see our specialism in charities and not-for-profit organisations as a particular strength. The partners and senior staff have many years’ experience of active involvement in charities in varying roles, such as Treasurer, Accountant, Auditor, Independent Examiner and Advisor. When there are changes in Charities Regulations we are proactive in discussing these with our clients. Where there are substantial changes (e.g. the introduction of SORP 2005) we have held open seminars with our clients to brief and discuss the issues with them. Our client seminars attract around 100 attendees.

We consider ourselves well placed not only to provide an effective audit service for charities but also to assist them by providing if required, additional services such as general financial and tax advice, assistance with bookkeeping, payroll, computerisation and financial management.

In addition we have experience with advising charities on tax matters and in particular trading with charities and specific VAT issues.

Over the last six years the firm has acted for on average 100 charities, large and small, across a wide spectrum of charitable objectives.
